While we by no means can provide you with the meaning of every single light that you'll see, we do want to give you a better understanding of what you may come across during your travels with your Jeep. The better prepared you are for problems to arise, the easier that solving them will be. That's why we are here to help you through anything that could happen. At Reedman-Toll CDJR of Springfield, no issue is too big for us to help you with. Keep reading down below to learn about some of the warning lights that you can find with your Jeep.

Check engine light

The first warning light that we want to make sure you know about is the check engine light. This will likely look like a lit up engine. Whenever this engine comes on, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment with our service center so that we may diagnose the issue as it could range from a loose gas cap to something far more serious. That range of issues is something that our service technicians are trained to deal with, and we don't recommend trying to diagnose this issue by yourself. If the check engine light happens to be flashing, then you are dealing with an issue that is happening as your Jeep is going, and you should never drive while the flashing is occurring.

Tire pressure warning

One of the most common warning lights that you will see pop up from time to time is the tire pressure warning light. It looks a lot like a flat tire, and it appears when the tire pressure is lower than it should be. We suggest starting by just pumping up your tires, but if you still have issues, then it may be a much more serious problem. At that time, we recommend a service appointment so we can check your tires and make sure there are no punctures. A flashing tire pressure light means that you could be dealing with rapid loss of tire pressure, and you should slow down immediately. It is not safe to drive with a flat tire.

Traction control

The last major warning light that we want you to be aware of is traction control. This is a light that could have multiple different meanings in your vehicle. When it is illuminated, it could mean that the ability of your Jeep to stay on the road and avoid bad situations is being limited, and that sliding or braking is no longer computer assisted. This is sometimes fixed by just turning traction control back on, if it was turned off for some reason. It will still be drivable, but it's now limited, and you should call in for an appointment.
