The first thing you'll notice about the Jeep Gladiator is that its design mirrors that of the Wrangler. This is because of its upright seven-slot grille with round headlights on the flank that has become just as recognizable as the Jeep name. The Gladiator also features the Wrangler's removable top, fold-down windshield, and removable doors, bringing the outside world in. The High Altitude trim sits atop the Gladiator trim level lineup with LED exterior lighting, blindspot monitoring, rear parking sensors, leather-trimmed upholstery, a full body-color appearance, a body-color hard top, and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Two options are available for the 2023 Gladiator. The first is the standard 3.6-liter V6 engine pushing out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The V6 engine is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission and a part-time 4x4 system. The optional EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 engine pumps out 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. While an 8-speed automatic transmission is available for the gas-powered engine, it comes standard with the EcoDiesel option. There are three 4x4 systems that Jeep uses for the Gladiator, the same ones as the Wrangler. While Command-Trac is standard, Selec-Trac is optional for the Overland and Standard for the High Altitude. Meanwhile, Rock-Trac 4x4 is exclusive to the Rubicon trim. As we mentioned above, the Gladiator stands out from the pack by coming standard with 4x4 at all trim levels. The Gladiator's standard 4x4 system, Command-Trac, is a part-time system. This means that it uses driver input to shift into and out of four-wheel drive with a shift knob near the center console. With a two-speed transfer case, the driver can choose 4-HI for better traction at higher speeds or 4-LO for optimal traction while driving at low speeds. Available for the Gladiator Overland while standard on the High Altitude, Selec-Trac 4x4 is a full-time system. Selec-Trac operates on its own without any driver input, automatically shifting from two-wheel drive on dry and smooth roads to four-wheel drive while driving through snow, mud, loose gravel, or otherwise rugged terrain. Lastly, Rock-Trac 4x4 is standard exclusively for the Rubicon trim. It is a part-time system similar to Command-Trac. However, the gear ratio in the Rock-Trac transfer case is 4:1, providing optimal traction at low speeds. This allows it to handle low-speed rock crawling, hence the name, Rock-Trac.
