All models come with either front-wheel or four-wheel drive excluding the Trailhawk which comes standard with four-wheel-drive. The Sport and 4WD Latitude models come with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. While the Limited and Trailhawk models come standard with a 9-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with 4WD the Compass can to up to 2,000 pounds.

2019 Kia Sportage Power & Handling

The 2019 Kia Sportage comes standard with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine making 181 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. An available 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 produces 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. All versions of the Kia Sportage are available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The Sportage is also rated to tow up to 2,000 pounds.

Jeep offers the 2019 Cherokee in four different trim levels the: Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. The base model Sport comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker sound system, a USB port, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, keyless ignition and entry, and 16-inch wheels. The Latitude model comes equipped with upgraded cloth and simulated leather seat upholstery, and an available Altitude Appearance Package. The Compass Limited adds features such as remote start, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, two-tone gloss black roof, 18-inch wheels, and automatic dual-zone climate control. The off-road-ready Trailhawk features 17-inch wheels, off-road tires, red tow hooks, a raised suspension, underbody skid plates, and a matte-black hood accent.

2019 Kia Sportage Features & Design

The 2019 Kia Sportage comes in three different trims the: LX, EX, and SX Turbo. The base LX comes with a backup camera, a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system, and automatic headlights. The EX model adds roof rails, heated front seats, a 7-inch Uvo touchscreen, Andriod Auto, Apple CarPlay, keyless ignition and entry, and heated mirrors. The top of the line Sportage SX comes with xenon headlights, 19-inch wheels, and a heated steering wheel.

Conclusions

While both are excellent vehicles we think the 2019 Jeep Compass pulled ahead. With Jeep's legendary 4x4 system the Compass is just a more capable vehicle than the Sportage.
