New 2017 Jeep Compass at Springfield Chrysler Dodge Jeep for Springfield, PA
Let's discuss the 2017 Jeep Compass, with its five-passenger seating and optional, flip-down tailgate speakers. There is also the available Freedom Drive II system to help you go off-road even easier! Inheriting strong bones from the Jeep Cherokee line, the Jeep Compass is worth the look with its value and style. This is the one to go for when you want a little something different from the commuter pack but also want trail-capability that is supplied by one of the industry's benchmark leaders-- Jeep.
Under the Compass's Hood
The 2017 Compass gets to 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder base engine. Front-wheel drive is automatically installed with the base engine. Available on front-wheel-drive models and standard with AWD is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that gets 172 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque. Going back a bit to improve fuel economy, the 2.0-liter Latitude is joined up with a continuously variable transmission and the standard five-speed manual transmission shows up on the 2.0-liter Sport model. The 5-speed manual is an option on the Sport, or a six-speed automatic fills in as standard instead. Then again, remember that optional on the Sport is the Freedom Drive II, which adds an enhanced CVT with a crawl mode that mirrors the usual low-range gearing used by 4x4 powertrains. The 2017 Jeep Compass is ready for what you have in store for it and, when properly equipped, can tow up to 2,000-lbs. In Edmunds testing, an AWD 2017 Compass with the 2.4-liter and six-speed raced from zero to 60 mph in 9.4 seconds, which is quite impressive for a crossover SUV 4x4 if you ask around.
Design of Jeep Compass
The 2017 Jeep Compass is a vehicle that has 2 central trims: the Sport and the Latitude. The Latitude has a High Altitude Edition version within that trim. The Sport trim allows your choice of 2 versions, either the Sport SE or the 75th Anniversary Edition. Either of the central trims can be obtained with a rearview camera and a 6.5-inch touchscreen, and the navigation system with that is solely on the Latitude. There is a plethora of available packages with the Compass, and they are model dependent for access. Four-wheel-drive Compass trims can be outfitted with the All-Weather Capability Group, and all Compass models are also qualified for the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Group. The remote engine start feature is inherent within the 75th Anniversary package, as are 18-inch, bronze-painted alloy wheels, and a sunroof. The Sport SE package makes those same wheels' gray and has a corresponding gloss-gray body trim, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel (with audio controls), and many other items to enjoy. Standard on the Sport is a four-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, 60/40-split folding rear seatbacks, a tilt-only steering wheel, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, a USB port and an aux jack, 16-inch alloy wheels, foglights, air-conditioning, cruise control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Latitude contains the base-level Sport's standards, but also puts in the Power Value Group and goes up to 17-inch wheels. The High Altitude Edition package throws in a sunroof and leather upholstery, with a few other super additions.
What is the best fuel economy rating for the 2017 Jeep Compass?
